Ambulance on fire on A59, road closed due to explosion risk

An ambulance is on fire on the A59 near Sprang-Capelle. Due to the risk of explosion, the road is closed between Den Bosch and the Dussen exit. According to a spokesperson for the ANWB, that will remain the case for the time being.

The fire was reported around 6:30 p.m. “The ambulance contains oxygen bottles, so the entire road is closed for safety reasons,” explains the ANWB. There is a risk of explosion because of those oxygen cylinders.

Once the fire is under control, the A59 will be reopened. According to the ANWB, that could take a while. “The fire brigade cannot yet reach the oxygen tanks, so the road will remain closed for the time being.” It is unknown what caused the ambulance to catch fire.

Slight delay
The closure caused a delay of more than half an hour at just before half past six. Traffic is advised to drive via Tilburg.
