Berlin’s Senator for Justice Lena Kreck (left) no longer wants to use her title as a professor for the time being. This applies “until further notice”, the Senate Judicial Administration announced on Friday.
“Kreck will resume the designation at the latest after returning to the university.” Kreck said: “I believe that after my appointment as a senator, I legitimately called myself a professor.” But she acknowledges that this is also the case there are other opinions.
Kreck was responding to allegations that the title could only be used if she had been a professor for five years. From 2019 to 2021 she worked as a professor for social work at the Evangelische Hochschule Berlin. She became a senator at the end of 2021.
Her CV on the Senate website says: “She is still an academic member of the university.” Kreck had argued that she continued to work part-time for the university.
