The fire brigade was called out last night with many cars for a possible dune fire in Hargen aan Zee. Once arrived it turned out to be ‘just’ a campfire. However, the fire brigade is not happy about this because of the persistent drought.
The fire brigade received a report around 9 p.m. last night and immediately scaled up. “We went that way with a lot of cars,” says a spokesperson for the North Holland North Safety Region. “Due to the drought, we immediately scale up in the event of a serious report.”
“It turned out to be ‘lucky’ to go to a campfire,” he says. “‘Happy’ in quotes, because we hope people don’t light fires in these times of drought.”
The campfire was extinguished and the fire did not spread.
