Albert Verlinde will not return to the desk of Shownieuws. Although the show connoisseur was still under contract with Talpa Network until May next year, he has decided to stop.
The cast of Shownieuws is not exactly something to write home about. Especially the performances by Bram Moszkowicz and Natacha Harlequin are cringe-inducing, but the other experts are not exactly crowd favorites either. Albert Verlinde used to be the biggest star in their midst, but he’s retired now.
Albert is leaving
Albert thinks it’s been enough, a spokesperson for Talpa confirms The Telegraph. “Some time ago Albert indicated that the late evenings at Shownieuws can no longer be combined with his other work.”
The press officer continues: “It was therefore decided in mutual consultation that Albert would stop as an entertainment expert from the program from mid-July. We thank Albert for his unbridled commitment and enthusiasm within his work for Shownieuws.”
‘Been nice’
It has been ‘beautiful’, Albert says in a comment to the AD. “I just noticed that it was getting too much with all the work I still have next door. Diary of a Sheepdog is coming back, Grease is coming, I’m on the town council. It was too much.”
His contract actually ran until May next year. “I then asked whether it is negotiable that I stop earlier. That was fine. The fact that my agenda is so full, and I can never plan a dinner with friends, made me make this decision. Sometimes you have to choose for yourself.”
quietly
It is unclear why Albert and Talpa said goodbye to each other so quietly. They won’t release anything until a newspaper has sounded the alarm about his absence from the program.
As far as is known, there is no arguing behind the scenes.
