West Flemish amusement parks look back on the summer season with satisfaction

Although the heat waves made for quieter days, the parks matched or exceeded the visitor numbers of 2019, the year before the corona pandemic.

Amusement park Bellewaerde received about 350,000 visitors this summer. “We are back at the level of 2019”, says Filip Van Dorpe, director of marketing and sales. In addition, the park recorded good turnover figures. “Visitors spend more,” says Van Dorpe.

Bellewaerde Aquapark was also “full every day”. The number of visitors even exceeded expectations, it sounds like. That is also the case with the Plopsa water parks. They did “better than ever,” said spokeswoman Chelsea Vanhullebusch. Plopsaland De Panne and Plopsa Coo also had a “very good summer”, she adds.

At Boudewijn Seapark, visitor numbers exceed expectations. According to commercial director Geertrui Quaghebeur, the visitor numbers again equal those from 2019. The warm days were a “blessing”, it sounds like. As the reason for the high visitor numbers, Quaghebeur points to the new dolphin show and the open-air pool, Bobo’s AquaSplash, as two of the park’s assets. “Visitors could cool off all day long.”
