The top drivers in the F1 series Max Verstappen’s and Charles Leclerc the rise from the back group towards the top of the Belgian GP was very different.

Verstappen, who started from grid 15, easily raced himself to the top of the race already on lap 11. The Red Bull driver was in his own class in the race.

Leclerc, who started the race in lower place, was finally only sixth after several stages. While Verstappen was able to start the restart from good positions, Leclerc had dropped to the tail of the group.

The reason was the extra pit stop, which was due to the club’s overheated brakes. Ferrari mechanics removed a part from the brake ducts of Leclerc’s car that did not belong there.

The piece of trash that caused the damage turned out to be the protective film for the helmet’s visor. Incredibly, it was owned by Verstappen.

After the race, Verstappen recounted the series of events.

– The opening round was really hectic. There was so much dust in the air that I had to tear the film off my visor. I couldn’t see properly in front of me, Verstappen said at the press conference.

The Ferrari camp already knew at this point that Verstappen’s garbage had ruined the race for the driver of the team. The Red Bull star was asked for his opinion on the subject.

– Carlos told the reason for his visit to the pits. I really hope it wasn’t my (diaphragm),” laughed Verstappen.

He reminded that other drivers also had to tear off the films while driving behind the safety car.

– He was really unlucky. It’s almost a driver’s worst nightmare, Verstappen complimented his rival.

Ferrari team manager Mattia Binotto said the visor film ruined Leclerc’s race no less than twice.

In addition to the extra pit stop, it also caused overspeeding in the pit, according to the team boss.

– The overheated brakes broke the sensor that regulates the operation of the pit limiter. The speed limit in the pit was 0.1 kilometers per hour, Binotto stated after the race.

Verstappen’s wild pace in the last few races and Ferrari’s attack are turning the World Cup battle in favor of the reigning world champion.
