Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta there was one smile before the start of the Fulham match.

The Gunners had started the season with three wins, and before Saturday, it was the only team in the Premier League with a clean game.

In the local game, the Basque player also completed 100 league matches as head coach.

– I feel privileged, because I can make a full hundred in this club. But let’s move on. There are only three league matches behind, Arteta downplayed.

Fulham had also performed quite cheerfully as a rising team. It hadn’t suffered a single loss, especially a super attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic had continued his wild scoring streak he had already shown in the Championship.

The opening period ended goalless, even though Arsenal were clearly on top. Towards the end, however, the home team started to show frustration, and Arteta had to use his half-time speech to calm the players down.

Mental strength

The histories of London clubs date back well into the 19th century. However, the 135-year-old joint football competition does not know Fulham’s away victory on Arsenal’s home turf.

The long streak was to end on Saturday, as Mitrovic was humiliated by a brass top Gabriel Magalhãesia in the 56th minute. The defender buried the ball in the vicinity of his own goal, and the powerful Serbian striker went to steal it and rivet Mökkiläite sensationally to the away team’s lead.

However, it only lasted eight minutes. Arsenal were lucky to equalize because the skipper by Martin Ødegaard the shot bounced off Fulham’s legs and past the goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

The German striker was still part of the Gunners’ strength last spring, but now his top saves seemed to cause the club its first loss of points.

However, Leno succumbed to a misjudgment in the 85th minute, when he was at the bottom of the pile of players in a corner situation. Gabriel made up for his mistake in the opening goal by heading the loose ball from a meter into the empty net.

The Brazilian’s winning goal was still replayed from the VAR videos, but no mistake was found.

This is how Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League after a break of a couple of hours. It has now won all four of its series games.

Manchester City and Brighton are two points behind the North Londoners.

Arteta has certainly moved his eyes to next Wednesday, when Aston Villa will come for a league visit.
