Presented as a concept at AutoMobility in Los Angeles last year, it is time for the Kia Ev9 electric SUV to pass the last test session ahead of the world premiere, set for the first quarter of 2023. It shares the platform E-Gmp with the Ev6, hoping to collect the same approval as the award-winning electric crossover. Not surprisingly, Ev9 sports the stylistic language of the latest generation Kia, tailor-made for a 7-seater SUV body. Despite the protective film, the front shows the new vertically developed LED headlights, while the rest of the bodywork in the tests seems faithful to that of the prototype shown in Los Angeles.

On the engine side, it is reasonable to expect a double configuration of engines and battery packs, as happens on the Ev6. A high-performance version with the GT logo cannot be ruled out. It is still early to talk about power and autonomy, while the presence of an all-wheel drive version is obvious. During this final test phase, the Ev9 was in fact subjected to an intense testing program, with uphill and rough terrain tests, as well as a deep water wading test. It may not have the same qualities as a classic off-road vehicle, but according to the Kia Ev9 tests it will be able to cope fairly well even off-road. The new Korean electric SUV will be able to count on the latest generation of driver assistance and connectivity systems.
