Jonas Michelbrink is leaving the Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who signed a professional contract with the Berliners a year ago, is committed to the third division club MSV Duisburg for the next two years, as the Duisburg team announced on Friday. A transfer fee does not apply.
“This is the first time I’ve been on a real men’s team. The way to Duisburg and the 3rd division is a big step for me personally, to a big club with a big stadium,” the attacking midfielder is quoted as saying on the MSV website.
Michelbrink, who joined the club in 2014, made two top-class appearances for Hertha. In addition, the native of Hanover contributed four goals in 45 games for the regional league team.
Mesut Kesik, who also comes from the academy, is meanwhile moving to Göztepe on loan in the Turkish league. There is no purchase option.
