The “stolen” bag contained the 300 euros that he had supposedly withdrawn from the bank, a mobile phone and the keys to his home. The woman, to give more credibility to her complaint, stated that when she was approached from behind she thought it was a joke, but that she changed her mind at the insistence of the alleged perpetrator of the robbery.

The Research Group of the Alicante North District Police Station took charge of carrying out the investigations into the alleged robbery and after numerous steps and viewing of images they verified that the complainant had not circulated through any of the streets reflected in her complaint at the times she had indicated.

Suspecting that it was a false complaint, the agents called the woman to take her statement again and at the appearance she finally acknowledged that the reported facts were false. The woman alleged that she had lost her money after taking it out of the bank and that she reported her theft in order to receive compensation from her home insurance for being in a bad economic situation.
