Ua story of rebellion against abuses, told in a way ironicalmost comic. The result is one hilarious comedywhich addresses important issues (violence against women), without burdening the viewer, on the contrary it is able to snatch laughter and also reflections. It is all this Rebels (original title Rebels), a 2019 French film that airs tonight 24 August on Rai 3.
Rebelsthe French film that breaks the typical French “bon ton”
Written and directed by Allan Maudit, and distributed in Italy by No. Mad Entertainmenthad a good success, grossing over in total seven million dollars.
The absolute protagonist is the French proletariat, which however, here manages to escape from the opaque, melancholy and even a bit bourgeois dimension, typical of French films, to become a sort of daring thriller, full of suspense and joy. As if it were, in short, a story to Ken Loach which, instead of saddening, conveys good humor.
The protagonist Sandra, champion against violence against women
The plot revolves around the story of Sandra (Cécile de France), ex-miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, single mother fleeing the French Riviera, where she had chosen to live, to escape from abusive husband. Not knowing where to go, he returns from the mother in Boulogne-sue-Mer, the city of his childhood but he had left fifteen years ago, because she didn’t like it. Without money, without prospects, he needs a job. She finds it in a cannery. She seems to have finally found a new balance. Her life, however, puts her in front of the umpteenth difficulty.
Rebelsthe compelling and unpredictable tama
Everything crashes when Sandra is facing the her boss at work trying to harass her. To defend herself, she seriously injures him and man dies.
