Waregem racecourse completely in the hands of the city

“The city now fully owns the grounds of the hippodrome, but also the entire Hippologgia building,” says Mayor Kurt Vanryckeghem.

“That is a win-win situation. They will have more financial scope for the coming decades. And we will become manager-owner of the entire site.”

For five million euros, the city can now also give a different interpretation to the hippodrome.

“We can use the hippodrome even more as a soft passage for pedestrians and cyclists. We can also use the building and the grounds for events. But it will also be used as extra peripheral parking for the center of Waregem.”

Tomorrow evening the Waregem Koerse Feesten will really start. With the festive inauguration of the Gaverbeek, which flows above ground again, close to the racecourse.
