Admittedly: we have nothing to complain about in Zoetermeer in terms of events. Here you can visit Culinary Zoetermeer, Dachshund Day, the Liberation Festival or Historic Zoetermeer. Yet there are a number of parties in other cities that would not be out of place in our city. How cool would it be if some of these events also took place in Zoetermeer?

The Varend Corso is an annual event where people enjoy a spectacular show on the water. Boats sail by over the waters of Westland, which are completely decorated with flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables. In addition, there is an element of competition: the most beautifully decorated boats win a prize. Time for a Zoetermeer edition of the Sailing Corso! The Zoetermeerse Plas is perfect for that!

Dickens Festival

Just before Christmas, Deventer is traditionally completely transformed into the England of the nineteenth century. All because of the Dickens Festival. At this event, residents act out Scrooge’s story. They walk in costumes, actors recreate old crafts and drink a cup of hot chocolate with their neighbors. So cosy, that also seems like something for the Zoetermeerse Dorpsstraat.

In Sneek, everything revolves around Sneekweek in the summer. Not surprising, because then there is a lot to do in the city. Think of a music festival, a fair and a naval review. Perhaps we can organize a local variant, such as the Sweet Water Days. Doesn’t sound wrong, does it?

Glow Eindhoven

The whole city is lit up with colorful lights. That is the case during Glow Eindhoven. Parks are colored red, yellow and blue. Bridges will be decorated, streets will be given a makeover and the Central Station will also be completely renovated. We also see this in Zoetermeer. Can you imagine that the Stadshart, the Dobbe area and the Dorpsstraat are completely decorated?

Leiden Relief

At the Leids Ontzet, the whole city is turned upside down. The event originally revolved around the liberation of Leiden, but nowadays many residents celebrate the party because of the conviviality and the many activities. There are many parties and the whole city enjoys a supper together: traditional Dutch stew. But the Geuzen first passed Zoetermeer before arriving in Leiden. Why wouldn’t they celebrate the Zoetermeers Relief?

Nijmegen Four Days Marches

One thing is clear at the Nijmegen Four Days Marches: the entire city is one for a moment. The main part of the event is, of course, the walking tour itself, where thousands of people participate. In addition, there are parties all over the city. Both the tour and the parties do not look out of place in Zoetermeer. Because from our city you can take the most beautiful walks and you can easily reach 40 kilometers per day. We say: do it!

Candle night Gouda

It is the moment that many inhabitants of Gouwen look forward to every year: Candlestick evening. During this event, the lights of the big tree are turned on. This happens under the watchful eye of thousands of people. Meanwhile, several choirs sing Christmas carols.
