The Barça youth football coach is close to accepting a proposal to be the first coach

Capellas had been Denmark U21 coach (2019-21)

Albert Capellas, a coach who is part of Barça’s grassroots football structure, is close to leaving the club to sign on as the first coach of Danish FC Midtjylland. Last week a meeting took place between him and CEO Claus Steinlein and according to the Danish press he would have already accepted the position.

It would not be the first time that the Catalan coached in that country, as his resume shows that he was Thomas Frank’s second coach at Brøndby IF (2014-15), was coach of Brøndby IF under-17 (2016) and coach of Denmark under -21 (2019-21).

Capellas worked at the culé club from 1999 to 2010, first as assistant coach of the subsidiary and later with coordination tasks in the youth team. He finished his first cycle at the Camp Nou in 2010, when Sandro Rosell became president. And he returned in June with Joan Laporta in the presidency. Last season his name sounded like a possible replacement for Koeman while the arrival of Xavi was not closed. Finally the club chose Sergi Barjuan, who directed the subsidiary. He will now surely leave to take the reins of a first division team.
