IVVO presents decreasing residual waste figures: “we are sorting better and better”

The IVVO includes Alveringem, De Panne, Diksmuide, Heuvelland, Ypres, Koksijde, Lo-Reninge, Messines, Nieuwpoort, Poperinge, Veurne and Vleteren.

The introduction of the new blue bag, the selective collection of mattresses and the separate registration of industrial waste ensure a decrease in household residual waste.

The IVVO residual waste figures show a downward trend for the first time since corona. This is mainly due to the citizens’ better sorting efforts. Since 1 April 2021, the pmd sorting rules have been extended. Since then, all plastic packaging can be put in the new blue bag. It is clear that the citizen eagerly takes advantage of this. The tonnage of pmd waste has increased by no less than 26%! In addition, in the first half of the year 4,579 mattresses or 96 tons were selectively collected via the recycling parks. From now on, this fraction will no longer end up in the bulky waste. Finally, companies must conclude a contract with IVVO if they wish to make use of the regular collection of residual waste and organic waste at home. The collected industrial waste is therefore registered and charged separately and is no longer included in the household waste figures.
