Similar to the Tour de France, there are different ratings for the Germany Tour. In addition to the overall ranking, the drivers fight for the sprint and mountain jersey, for example. A look at the ratings and the rules at the largest German professional race.
Red instead of yellow: That is the color of the overall leader on the Germany tour. The jersey is worn by the driver who has the fastest time including time bonuses across all stages.
The time bonuses, which are awarded on every stage with the exception of the prologue, are also included. The first three drivers to cross the finish line receive a time credit of ten, six and four seconds respectively. In addition, on each stage there are three, two and one seconds of time credit for the bonus evaluation, which is located on a small hill just before the finish line.
Green for the sprinters
The drivers already know the color green from the Tour de France: As in the Tour of France, this jersey can be worn by the fastest sprinter. Officially, the rating is called “points rating”. There are two intermediate sprints on each stage, where 5, 3 and 1 points are awarded. At the finish – both on the regular stages and in the prologue – there are 15, 12, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points for the first ten drivers. If there is a tie in the classification, the number of stage wins counts first, followed by the number of intermediate sprints won.
Blue for the most consistent climber
In the Tour de France, along with the yellow jersey, it is one of the most popular: the mountain jersey. It’s blue on the Deutschland Tour – and that’s not the only difference. Because instead of being divided into five mountain categories, each with a different level of difficulty, the climbs on the Deutschland Tour are only divided into two categories.
Category 2 climbs get three, two and one point for the first three riders at the top of the pass, category 1 climbs get five, three and one point. If two drivers have the same number of points in the classification, the number of one-mountain ratings won counts first, followed by the two-mountain ratings won and – if there is still a tie – the placement in the overall rating.
The best junior driver wears white
The different ratings are completed by the youth and team ratings, which are also known in the same form from the Tour de France. The best young driver’s white jersey is worn by the driver who is best placed overall and was born after January 1, 1997.
For the team ranking, the times of the three best drivers in a team are added together.
