Ed Sheeran, one of the most popular musicians in the world, performed on Saturday night at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium.
The mega-concert had a cool setting: the stadium was filled with several light poles with big screens. The performance stage was rotating so that everyone on the tour could see Sheeran properly.
Sheeran dressed with respect to the locals: first he wore a black t-shirt with the word Helsinki on it. Towards the end of the concert, he changed into the jersey of the Finnish national football team, the Huuhkajie. The shirt change was documented by Sheeran Instagram-stories that can be viewed for another day.
On the back of the shirt was the game number 10 worn by star player Teemu Puki and Sheeran’s name.
The clothing choices garnered praise from Finns on social media:
Football is close to the heart of Sheeran, who hails from England. Sheeran was also seen wearing Huuhkajie’s shirt at his previous gig in Finland. He performed in 2019 at Malmi Airport, from which he posted at the time pictures:
The organizer of the event, Fullsteam Agency, also shared photos from the concert at the Olympic Stadium to Instagram. According to Fullsteam, there were 50,000 spectators in the audience and the concert was the biggest event of the renovated stadium so far.
