Due to the sky-high tariffs for gas and to a lesser extent electricity, millions of households saw their energy costs rise sharply last year. Every month they spend tens to sometimes hundreds of euros more on gas and light. However, many customers are burying their heads in the sand because of the increased costs, according to the three energy giants Vattenfall, Eneco and Essent.
