Lieke Klaver from Enkhuizen finished fifth in the 200 meters at the European Championship. The athlete had a somewhat poor start, but came back well at the end and ran a time of 22.88.
Mujinga Kambundji from Switzerland took the gold in a time of 22.32. “I thought I was running a good corner, but I came out of that corner last. Place three was not up for grabs. Tony van Diepen from Heerhugowaard was unable to qualify for the final in the 800 meters today. Van Diepen collapsed during his race during the final sprint and finished sixth in the semi-final. That was not enough for a place in the final. The North Hollander indicated afterwards that he suffered from stomach complaints.
