German hit by five bullets in Mexico

By John Roth

Mexican investigators are chasing a killer who apparently tried to shoot a tourist (32) from Mainz.

The “Roof Bar” is located in the nightlife center of the all-inclusive hotel metropolis Playa Del Carmen on the Riviera Maya (Caribbean).

At 11 p.m. the small bar on the pedestrian zone is full, guests sipping cocktails, especially margaritas, which are among the best in town – when suddenly shots are fired!

Hit by five bullets, the German collapses, two other guests are slightly injured (including a graze).

While the other guests rushed out of the restaurant screaming, the perpetrator was able to flee, as the Quintana Roo state prosecutor reported six hours later.

Why the Mainzer got the most hits will probably have to be clarified first. It is already suspected that it may have been about drugs, as the bar is considered a drug hotspot by both locals and the police.

This is probably one of the reasons why the Mexican police involved their colleagues and the public prosecutor in the investigation into attempted murder. One hopes for the first answers when the Mainzer is able to be heard again. The man is stable after his emergency operation, as reported.

There is still no trace of the shooter.
