Charissa Zijlstra and Renate Timmerman were therefore not alone when they tried to make it to the top as triathletes, but were physically and mentally abused so badly that it was impossible to achieve. In a report published on Thursday about abuses in Dutch triathlon sport, many more top athletes complain.
