Blink-182 bassist, singer-songwriter Mark Hoppus announced earlier this month that there was “no news” regarding a Blink-182 reunion. Now Hoppus spoke out again, saying he was “open to anything” about the band’s future.
Hoppus is annoyed by the numerous rumours
So far, the rumor mill about the rock band Blink-182 has been churning. Fans are studying every little detail of the band members in order to make a prediction as to whether or not the group will reunite. Guitarist Tom DeLonge left the band in 2015. Since then there has been no sign of a new meeting.
At the beginning of August, Hoppus made it clear that the speculation was not correct. He also expressed anger at the media spreading rumors like this. “If Blink announces anything, you’ll hear it on the official Blink 182 broadcasters. Not from a radio station like, ‘Tune in for a big announcement… Tom tagged Mark in a photo from two decades ago,'” he enlightened his community.
“I am hopeful for the future”
Hoppus announced in June last year that he had stage four cancer. In September, he was initially declared cancer-free. Earlier this week, he recalled visiting Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge in an interview with People. He said: “It was the first time in five years that all three of us were in the same room. There was no agenda. There was no lingering grudge. It felt like it was meant to be again: three friends sitting in a room.” Hoppus also noted that meeting DeLonge in particular was like a “cure-all” for him.
The bassist also explained that although Blink-182 has not yet reunited with DeLonge, a possible reunion cannot be completely ruled out. “I continue to write music and am open to the next phase of Blink. I am hopeful for the future. I’m just freaking happy to be here,” he added. Hoppus did not go into further detail about the trio. He merely assured that all former band members are “in a really great place at the moment”.
DeLonge’s Monsters of California is coming soon
Tom DeLonge is currently preparing for his film debut in Monsters Of California, which he directed and co-wrote with Ian Miller. The film is slated for release on December 1st of this year.
