Amber Heard is changing lawyers

Amber Heard continues to fight the verdict in the defamation trial and is appealing. With a new team. Her attorney Elaine Bredehoft is no longer on board, with the duo of David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown replacing them.

In June, Bredehoft announced on the NBC show “Today” that her client “absolutely” wants to appeal, and now she is no longer allowed to speak for Amber Heard. There was no official explanation. The lawyer only announced in a statement that it was the perfect time to step down.

Successful defamation lawsuit already behind him

The new team was optimistic. One is sure that the court would “clear” the name of the actress. It is an important case on the issue of freedom of expression.

At the beginning of the year, Axelrod and Brown already had success. They defended the New York Times against a defamation lawsuit brought by Republican politician Sarah Palin. She had sued the newspaper for an op-ed column alleging her connection to a killing spree. The New York Times was acquitted because it could not be proven that false information had been disseminated knowingly.

Heard has to pay $10.4 million

In early June, the jury awarded Amber Heard’s ex-husband Johnny Depp $10.4 million in damages. The actress previously described herself as a “victim of domestic violence” in an article in The Washington Post. According to Depp, the allegations would have hurt him immensely.
