The fire rages in the mountains of the Region of Murcia. More than 100 troops fight in Jumilla against the flames, which, at the moment, have burned around 300 hectares in the place of La Patoja. According to 112, it was probably caused by lightning strikes in the storms of the first hours of the morning. And there is another fire, in the nearby town of Hellín (Albacete), which is on the border with Calasparra.

“We are concerned about the evolution of the forest fire in the area of ​​La Patoja in Jumilla. We activate the aerial and ground troops that have been working since this morning to extinguish it. State aerial means are also incorporated,” said the president of the Region, Fernando Lopez Miras.

In addition to firefighters from the CEIS of Jumilla and Yecla, they are intervening since the fire has been declared environmental agents and forestry brigades of Caravaca, Jumilla, Yecla and Blanca. They later joined the operation two SuperPuma helicopterswith its helicopter brigades, facilitated by the Community of Castile-La Mancha, given that the fire is expanding towards said autonomous community. For its part, the Valencian Communitythrough the Alicante Provincial Council, has sent another support helicopter.

The General Director of Citizen Security and Emergencies has activated the Infomur Plan in Situation 2that is, “an emergency caused by one or several forest fires that, in their foreseeable evolution, may seriously affect the population and assets of a non-forest nature, requiring the immediate adoption of protection and relief measures; and it may be necessary that , at the request of the Director of the INFOMUR Plan, extraordinary means are incorporated, or may lead to situations that lead to the national interest”.
