Cops help toddler get over her police fear: ‘Now she can sleep again’

“If you don’t listen, the police will come for you.” It is a trick that sometimes helps with young children. But what if the child in question then becomes terrified of Uncle Cop? It happened to a toddler from Breda. So reassuring agents came to the rescue.

“We received a special request from a father,” writes the police Markdal-Breda on Instagram. “His 3-year-old daughter found the police scary. When the child did something that was not allowed, her mother had played the sound of police sirens. The question was whether we could help give it a positive spin. Of course we wanted to. help out!”

“This brave toddler didn’t shrink from anything.”

And so the team came to the rescue. The girl was allowed to sit on the police motorcycle for a while, got a bulletproof vest and was even allowed to switch on those scary flashing lights and sirens. “This brave toddler didn’t shrink from anything.”

As icing on the cake, a present was also waiting: “A real police teddy bear. Hopefully she will sleep well with that tonight.”

“On the contrary, teach children to come to us.”

The police do have a call to other parents. “We often hear people say to their children that the police will take them if they are naughty. Don’t do that. This makes a bigger impression on a young child than parents realize. Just teach them to come to us.”
