Torreira made his first game of the season against Burnley, which Arsenal won 2-1. He scored his first goal of the season against Liverpool after replacing Dani Ceballos in the 61st minute and scored his team’s only goal in the match they lost 3-1.
He played in the starting 11 in 30 of 35 official matches for Fiorentina. He returned to Arsenal on 30 June 2022.
Born in Uruguay, Torreira was also of Spanish descent as her paternal grandparents were Galician. The football player, who also has a Spanish passport, was followed by Italy before wearing the Uruguay jersey. Torreira was called up to the Uruguay squad for the 2018 China Cup in March 2018. He played his first international match against the Czech Republic, which they beat 2-0 in the semi-finals of the China Cup. In May 2018, he was named to Uruguay’s 26-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup to be held in Russia.
