Yesilgöz and Wilders have had ‘good and pleasant conversation’ about origin tweet | Inland

The conversation that Wilders and Yeşilgöz had about it on Wednesday was “good and pleasant”, according to the PVV leader. The minister agrees and thanks Wilders. It is unknown what exactly was discussed. A spokesperson for the minister also cannot say whether Wilders has apologized. The two were due to speak last week, but that fell through due to a debate in which Yeşilgöz had to be present.

It had not yet come to a conversation, partly because Wilders did not respond to calls or text messages, Yeşilgöz said almost two weeks after the tweet. She hadn’t heard from Wilders since then. The PVV leader defended that Yeşilgöz was then still State Secretary for Climate and did not know what to discuss with her.

The tweet caused Wilders great anger from the rest of politics. Prime Minister Mark Rutte, party colleague of Yeşilgöz, thought that Wilders “has fallen through a border” with his tweet. He also thought it was “a stupid excuse” why Wilders did not answer the phone. The coalition parties also cracked down on him during the debate on the government statement. “Why have the nerve to send such a reprehensible tweet, but not to call back?” asked VVD party leader Sophie Hermans. D66 party chairman Jan Paternotte immediately wanted an apology from Wilders.
