Beware of Tokmanni scammers on Facebook

Finns’ information is fished on fake accounts.

Tokmanni warns of fake Facebook accounts operating in its name and of scam messages. Tokmanni announced the matter in July on his Twitter and Facebook accounts, but again at the beginning of August, when a new Facebook scam account appeared on Facebook.

Tokmanni is known for the raffles it organizes on social media channels. Fraudsters take advantage of this by creating their own “sweepstakes” or handing out gift cards with the purpose of fishing for information such as passwords and payment card information.

Fraudsters create Facebook accounts that use Tokmanni’s logo and real advertising material. Accounts can look very real and can also be seen as advertisements on Facebook.

Tokmanni points out that the content shared by fake accounts can seem “too good to be true”, i.e. products can be promised almost for free, as long as you fill in your payment information, for example. If information is shared, it goes directly to criminals, which in turn can lead to financial losses.

Tokmanni advises to check the authenticity of the account before reacting to publications.

– On Facebook and Instagram, you can recognize the real Tokmanni by the blue Verified sign next to the page name. Regarding other channels, we urge you to pay attention to the page’s username and, for example, the page’s activity and/or the grammar of its posts, Tokmanni says.

Tokmanni points out that it also has store-specific accounts in the format “Tokmanni (location)”. The pages in question are on Facebook in the Shops section.

Also, watch out for scam messages

Tokmanni also warns about possible scam messages that are sent by e-mail. Tokmanni reminds that e-mail messages will only be sent to those who have given Tokmanni marketing permission or subscribed to the newsletter, for example, in connection with online shopping.

– All e-mail messages originating from Tokmanni are sent from e-mail addresses ending in @tokmanni.fi (@t.tokmanni.fi, @m.tokmanni.fi and @tokmanni.fi). As an exception, the contests and raffles organized on the tokmanni.fi website, in connection with which the instant prizes may be drawn, can also be sent from the address [email protected], says Tokmanni.

Tokmanni does not send promotional offers by text message or approach customers for sales purposes by phone.

If you receive a scam message in your e-mail, you should delete it immediately without clicking on the links in the message. Fake accounts you come across on Some can be reported to Facebook.

If you suspect that you have been the target of a scam and have provided your payment card information to a fraudulent website, contact your bank immediately and cancel the card whose information you have provided.
