FC Volendam sees reunion with PSV and Joey Veerman postponed

The match between PSV and FC Volendam has been moved to a new date. Initially, both teams would face each other on Saturday, August 20 in Eindhoven. Because PSV has qualified for the play-offs of the Champions League, the game will be moved to Wednesday, August 31, 6.45 pm.

Last night PSV settled in a blood-curdling match with AS Monaco (3-2 after extra time). Volendammer Joey Veerman took the lead by taking on the first goal. In two games, the team from Eindhoven will advance to the play-offs for the Champions League. In it, Ruud van Nistelrooij’s team plays against Rangers FC.

The PSV matches will be played on Tuesday 16 August and Wednesday 24 August. The competition match with FC Volendam fell exactly in between. By moving the match to August 31, PSV can optimally prepare for the double confrontation with the Scots.

To prepare

“Eredivisie matches can be moved if Dutch participants in the (qualification of the) Champions League, Europa League or Conference League indicate that they can prepare better as a result,” the KNVB said in a press release. “Duels will be moved when the playing program in the Eredivisie allows and the local authorities of the home club can cooperate with a new date.”

With a win, PSV qualifies (just like Ajax) for the group stage of the Champions League.
