The wind farm De Drentse Monden and Oostermoer in the Drentse Veenkoloniën has still not been completed by builder Nordex from Germany. The delivery was planned for September last year, but it has not yet happened.
According to spokesperson Elzo Springer, it has to do with the latest checks on various mills. “We sometimes still receive reports from the environment that some windmills are making noises. We then go to the builder and say: We want you to solve it.”
Of the 45 wind turbines, 44 are currently operating. A mill near Gasselternijveen on the Domweg will be completely demolished and rebuilt later this year. The tower of the turbine is built from six parts and one of the six tower parts has to be replaced. There is a construction error. “After that, this mill also has to go through all kinds of test rounds,” says Springer. In addition, the other turbines have all been running for almost a year. This means that they are all due for a major overhaul.
Last year the delivery was also delayed for months because of a burned-out cable in one of the wind turbines. Manufacturer Nordex did not want to make any statements about this, but reported in a statement that an error had been made in the installation of the cables. All wind turbines had to be checked for this.
It is not known when the wind farm can be delivered. “I keep saying: next month. But I’ve been saying that for a few months,” says Springer. “I dare not set a deadline.”
According to Springer, the delayed delivery has no consequences for the production of the wind turbines and the area fund. That is a pot of money for the surrounding villages that could be hindered by the wind farm. This includes money from the national government, province and municipalities. The wind farm also contributes to this with 50 cents per generated megawatt hour. “The wind turbines are just producing. The delayed delivery has no influence on that.”
