Amazone Dinja van Liere won the first Dutch medal at the World Dressage Championships in Herning on Monday. She won bronze in the Grand Prix Special with her horse Hèrmes.
The 31-year-old Van Liere recorded a score of 79.407. With this, the World Cup debutant, who was reserve at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year, improved her personal best.
The victory went to Charlotte Fry. The British came with Glamourdale to 82.508. Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour took the silver. With Vamos Amigos, the Danish achieved a total of 81,322.
“The goal was to set up a clear test”, Van Liere reacted. “They said to me: ‘Just go the extra mile’. In consultation with my trainer, I decided not to go the extra mile, but to want to stay flawless. I am very happy with this.”
Van Liere already qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris with the Dutch dressage team last weekend. The team finished fifth in the country classification. A place in the top six was sufficient for qualification for the 2024 Games in the French capital.
In dressage, the freestyle to music is also on the program in Herning on Wednesday. The World Jumping and Dressage Championships will last until 14 August.
