Shock in the afternoon in the middle of Dortmund. A police operation ended in a nightmare: a teenager (16) died after being shot by the police.
It is 4:25 p.m. when an operation in the north of Dortmund comes to a head dramatically. Police spokesman Gunnar Wortmann (45): “The youth attacked the officers with a knife. The colleagues then used the firearm.”
The teenager collapses badly, comes to the clinic. During the emergency operation, his heart stopped beating.
So far it is only known that the victim faced the police officers on a church site on Holsteiner Straße. It is unclear what kind of deployment it was originally. Wortmann: “For reasons of neutrality, the police headquarters in Recklinghausen took over the investigation.”
The authorities have not yet released the findings of the investigators, how many shots were fired and where the victim was hit. The Dortmund officials, who were deployed because of the 16-year-old, were unharmed.
