This is how you choose your jewelry correctly – a jewelry designer advises

Sweden’s jewelry queen Efva Attling tells how jewelry should be chosen.

Jewelry designer Efva Attling has decades of experience designing expressive and individual jewelry. We interviewed the woman in her new boutique that opened in the center of Helsinki.

– The most important criterion when choosing a piece of jewelry that looks like you is to choose a piece of jewelry that really speaks to you, both in terms of style and design. The purpose is to choose for your own personal jewelry collection only jewelry that is important to you and that resonates and pleases even years from now, underlines Attling.

Trust your own protection month

Efva Attling’s advice to those who are adding to their own jewelry collection is to boldly choose different jewelry, but jewelry that looks their own. Open-mindedly mix gold and silver, pearls and precious stones.

– Jewelry is always associated with strong, personal memories. Some you have chosen yourself, others you have inherited, some you have received as a gift: the most important thing, however, is to choose and keep in your collection exactly the jewelry that you like.

When choosing jewelry, an important criterion in the jewelry designer’s opinion is that they evoke emotions and can at best act as conversation starters. Attling enthuses how the feeling that her jewelry connects different people through interesting encounters and conversations serves as a constant source of inspiration for her.

The bride’s choice of jewelry

Efva gives one tip for brides making jewelry choices for this and future summers: think about whether it’s time to give up your childhood ring dream and approach the choice from a practical perspective as well.

– If you’re a gardener, for example, don’t choose a thin ring with delicate diamond settings, because then you won’t be able to use it in your work. In my opinion, an engagement and wedding ring should be on your finger every day of the year, emphasizes Attling.

Efva Attling draws inspiration for her jewelry from, among other things, the personal stories of the wearers of her jewelry. Polina Niemi

Efva power jewelry

Many of Efva’s streamlined jewelry are decorated with a power word or message. These include Carpe Diem, Now or Never, Hope and Fuck Off.

– Some people find strength in the slogans of my jewelry for a certain stage of life, or it reminds them of the feeling of victory that arose after they survived a personal challenge. In this case, the jewelry acts as a lucky charm for them, says Attling.

– When designing new jewelry, different human destinies and people’s personal stories serve as a big source of inspiration for me. The energy I get from hearing the stories of the users of my jewelry is an important part of my design process. In addition, I draw inspiration from travel, love and a lot from music.

High-quality jewelry lasts forever

Nowadays, it is also ecological to recycle, for example, the material of heirloom jewelry or a former engagement or wedding ring and make a piece of jewelry that looks more like your own, a 2.0 version, so to speak. It is also important for the Efva Attling brand that all materials used in jewelry are of high quality, long-lasting and recyclable.

– I have chosen to work specifically with gold, silver and both precious and semi-precious stones, because I know that these materials last forever and are completely recyclable.

We chose four wonderful and individual pieces of jewelry that you can use to complete your own jewelry collection:
