Bad surprise for the operator of the popular fan beer garden “Union-Tanke”!
When owner Frank “Dall” Seifert (55) checked on Thursday morning that things were going well, he realized that chaos had raged at him.
At the Union fan meeting point near the Köpenick S-Bahn station, the socket of a refrigerated truck was removed and numerous power cables were deliberately severed.
Seifert suspects chaos from the environment of city rivals Hertha BSC behind the destruction mania: “Two days before the derby, it literally smells like it.”
The material damage is “only” a few hundred euros. But: Seifert was lucky that the sausages and meatballs that had already been delivered for the derby could be quickly unpacked from the damaged refrigerated truck into another. Otherwise the entire product would be spoiled.
All supply lines were cut at the beer stand. Seifert: “That was a targeted attack on economic performance.”
The perpetrator or perpetrators, one of whom was seen by a witness with bolt cutters around 4 a.m., had more luck than sense.
If Seifert hadn’t removed the fuses from the power lines at the beer stand, it would have been life-threatening for the burglar(s).
Seifert has now been warned. He also informed Michael Frank, the owner of the nearby Union fan bar “Offside Trap”, about the incident. So that a Union pub is not attacked before the derby.
