Members of the music action group “Lebenslaute” protested against the further construction of the Autobahn 100 on Thursday morning in Berlin-Treptow by occupying a construction site.
When asked, the police spoke to 30 to 40 demonstrators, the activists to 90 people who played music on site.
According to the police, it was a spontaneous gathering near Kiefholzstrasse that blocked construction. For Thursday afternoon, “Lebenslaute” has also announced a concert approved by the police on the A103, Saarstraße exit towards the A100. A protest concert on the A100 in Berlin-Tempelhof had previously been banned.
The campaign is part of the annual campaign “Making music instead of concreting” by the group “Lebenslaute. Classical music – political action” against the expansion of the Berlin city motorway. The performance of a classical orchestra and choir had been announced for the approved concert on Thursday afternoon.
The program included compositions by Joseph Haydn, Franz Schubert, Dmitri Shostakovich and Rio Reiser, among others. According to the activists, the expansion of motorways as part of the federal traffic route plan is no longer up-to-date.
