Working as a coach in the KHL Vyacheslav Kozlov hacked bluntly of Match TV in an interview with KHL’s Kunlun Red Star, where Kozlov previously worked as an assistant coach.

Kunlun finished last in the KHL regular season last season in the entire league. Due to corona restrictions, the club played its games in Moscow.

Kozlov was asked what kind of coachable Chinese people were.

– What kind of Chinese were they? All the players were mostly from North America. They have roots in China but are Canadian and American in attitude.

In Kozlov’s opinion, the foreign reinforcements were unruly.

– Everyone knew how to play, but many of them were lazy. They did not work for themselves in the field. They just came to play for the easy money. They lived in Moscow and smoked a cloud. Nobody wanted to get to the playoffs, Kozlov snorted.

Kunlun was founded with the Beijing Winter Olympics in mind to develop Chinese national team players. Over the years, there have been few Chinese players in the club.

At the Winter Olympics, China finished last in its own group with a goal difference of 2–16. There were only ten native Chinese in the Olympic team.
