Hertha BSC “hot” for the derby against Union after the cup embarrassment

Marvin Plattenhardt from Hertha BSC is looking forward to the city duel with Union Berlin at the start of the Bundesliga despite the cup defeat.

“The anticipation for this derby is great. Everyone here is hot,” said the captain on Wednesday: “Our goal is to take three points and win.”

On Sunday, Hertha lost 6-5 on penalties in the first round of the DFB Cup against second-division side Eintracht Braunschweig.

Against Union on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) it was important “to start the round with a sense of achievement,” said Plattenhardt. The team prepares well and “then goes there with full self-confidence”.

The two lost derbies in the league and the defeat in the cup last season no longer play a role for the 30-year-old. “Of course it doesn’t feel good when you’ve lost the last few games,” said Plattenhardt, but “we can change everything at the weekend.”
