A ticket for the Stones concert in the Waldbühne cost only 6 marks – in 1965. But when the band stopped playing on September 15th after only 20 minutes, the concert was still expensive. Because the fans completely dismantled the open-air arena.
The balance sheet at the time: 87 injured, 85 arrests, almost all forest stage benches small wood, demolished lanterns and cars. Damage: 400,000 marks, half of which for destroyed S-Bahn wagons.
The Rolling Stones only returned to the Waldbühne in 1982, and then again in 2014.
On Wednesday evening, the British cult rockers will play again in the famous open-air arena. Tickets now cost between 238 and 600 euros!
The band has long been a billion dollar empire
The Rolling Stones are considered the most financially successful band in the world. The personal fortune of Mick Jagger (79), Keith Richards (78), Ron Wood (75) and the late Charlie Watts (81) is estimated at 400 to 500 million euros each. As early as 2007, her financial advisor recommended selling the Stones group for over a billion euros. The band declined.
The biggest cash cows are still the tours of the British cult band. They are represented twice among the ten most profitable tours of all time with the tour from 2005 to 2007 for the album “A Bigger Bang” and with the current concert tour. In addition, there is the income from more than forty other tours.
A lot of logistics is necessary for their mega concerts. 40 articulated lorries and two private jets transport the music clan, which, in addition to the Stones’ families, also includes around 200 technicians, controllers, lawyers and a team of doctors.
No wonder the tickets for their Sixty European tour to mark the band’s 60th anniversary cost up to 600 euros…
The good news for visitors to the Waldbühne: while around 22,000 fans are pretty close to their idols here, most visitors could only experience the Stones’ concerts in the Olympic Stadium on the giant screens. So on Wednesday there will be pure satisfaction…
