AC Milan, who have so far been disappointing in the championship, are the first club to reach the semi-finals of the Italian Football Cup. In the quarter-finals, however, the eighth-placed team in Serie A had to settle for a difficult 2-1 (2-0) against relegation candidates FC Carpi on Wednesday evening. Carlos Bacca (14th minute) and Mbaye Niang (29th) scored for the favourite. Matteo Mancosu had scored the connection for the guests (50th). The other three semi-finalists will be determined next week. Cup holders Juventus Turin have to play with German world champion Miroslav Klose at Lazio Roma on Wednesday.
