BVB is still looking for a replacement for Sébastien Haller. Sports director Sebastian Kehl reveals that there are probably some candidates.
At Borussia Dortmund, the search for a replacement for goalscorer Sébastien Haller, who is suffering from a tumour, is in full swing. “Of course I have a list in my head. We’ve been dealing with it for a few days,” said sports director Sebastian Kehl on Friday on the Sky TV station with reference to possible transfer candidates. “Of course, if there are options, it would be good to implement them as soon as possible.”
After Haller’s operation, Kehl expects the attacker, who BVB signed for more than 30 million euros from Ajax Amsterdam this summer to replace Erling Haaland (Manchester City), to be out for “several months”. When looking for a Haller representative, the Revierklub’s financial leeway, which has already spent around 85 million euros on newcomers, is limited. “It’s clear that we can’t spend as much money again as we did with Sébastien Haller. That’s not possible at the moment. We have to be a little creative,” said Kehl.
Cavani, Dzeko or Icardi?
Well-established goalscorers such as Edinson Cavani, Edin Dzeko or Mauro Icardi are traded in the media as possible candidates. In the past few days there have been “a lot of offers” from player advisors with suggested solutions. “The phone didn’t stand still,” revealed Kehl. The imminent hunt for appointments until the World Cup in winter increases the need to look for a replacement for Haller. “We have to be prepared for very intensive weeks. Until November we have almost only English weeks. There will be a lot going on,” commented the Zorc successor.
