Regardless of whether goalscorer Sasa Kalajdzic leaves the club this summer or not, VfB Stuttgart are considering signing another centre-forward.
“It’s a very respectful way of dealing with the situation from all sides,” said sports director Sven Mislintat to the podcast of “Stuttgarter Zeitung” and “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” about the current status of negotiations between the Bundesliga soccer club and the Austrian.
“If we don’t sell him, I think there’s a good chance of extending him,” Mislintat said of Kalajdzic, who has been a candidate for a change for weeks and whose contract with VfB ends on June 30, 2023.
“But we are also preparing to possibly pack a back-up behind Sasa.” With the constellation of Kalajdzic and Hamadi Al Ghaddioui, who now plays for FC Pafos (Cyprus), as well as some talents, they have done well offensively in the recent past. That’s why you have to think about adding another “challenger”, said Mislintat. But you only act if it makes economic sense.
