Beijing is once again welcoming direct overseas passenger flights, for the first time in more than two years, as China relaxes parts of its strict border laws. That reports financial news agency Bloomberg.
Air China’s website shows that the airline has restarted a direct, weekly flight from Paris. Japanese airline ANA will then restart weekly flights from Narita in August. Etihad started direct flights to the capital at the end of June, after China halved the time that incoming travelers must quarantine to seven days.
The Chinese civil aviation authority banned direct, overseas flights to Beijing in early 2020. Anyone traveling to the Chinese capital had to land in one of the pre-approved cities for quarantine before continuing their journey. Earlier this month, the regulator said international commercial flights will steadily resume.
Isolated
Even with the easing of quarantine rules, China remains isolated from the world, which is now mainly focused on coexisting with the virus. Anyone wishing to travel to the country must meet a list of conditions and face potential disruptions. There is also a rule that limits airlines to only one international flight per week, puts a limit on the number of passengers and also offers the option of suspending flights.
