Participation in the DFB Cup will be even more lucrative. As the German Football Association (DFB) announced, a record amount of marketing revenue will be paid out to the participating teams in the 2022/23 season.

Accordingly, each first-round participant receives 209,247 euros. This corresponds to an increase of more than 30,000 euros compared to the last season before the corona pandemic. The 2023 DFB Cup winner collects 4.32 million euros. Including the bonuses from the previous rounds, he will ultimately come to almost eleven million euros.

We are very pleased that we were able to significantly increase the proportion for the clubs this season. The tradition of paying all participants equally shows the unity of German football, especially in this competition, and is an expression of the solidarity between amateurs and professionals. It is clear to us that the DFB Cup is not only attractive from a sporting point of view for everyone involved.”said DFB Vice President Peter Frymuth.

The increase in funds is made possible by the independent marketing of the competition by DFB GmbH & Co. KG, which has concluded corresponding contracts with national and international TV partners and six cup partners.

The clubs will receive 418,494 euros for participating in the second round. In the round of 16, the participants will receive 836,988 euros, in the quarter-finals 1,673,975 euros and in the semi-finals 3,347,950 euros. The final loser receives 2.88 million.
