Biathlon: Record number of participants at the Summer World Championships

The fans still have to be patient for the start of the new biathlon season. However, the Summer World Championships in Ruhpolding provide a first foretaste of winter. There is no shortage of stars at the competitions.

Again “Westphalian Gazette” reported, a total of 28 nations with around 400 athletes will start in Ruhpolding. This means that a record number of participants can be assumed.

With Denise Herrmann, Benedikt Doll and Philipp Nawrath, fans can look forward to familiar faces from the German biathlon team at the Summer World Championships.

“I’m really looking forward to this event,” Nawrath revealed in an interview with “chiemgau24” at the beginning of July: “Of course our focus is on winter, but these will be interesting and hopefully successful competitions. I definitely want to start in Ruhpolding and then get good results, of course.”

Herrmann told the portal: “I’ve never started at a summer World Cup. Of course I want to take the opportunity to compete in front of my home crowd. It will be a cool event on my doorstep. It’s also a good endurance test.” The individual Olympic champion spoke of an “attractive overall package”. Dorothea Wierer and Elvira Öberg also want to start in Ruhpolding.

Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof the big highlight of the season

The biathlon stars are currently preparing intensively for the new season and keep their fans up to date on social media. The Summer World Cup will give a first overview of the early form.

The absolute highlight of the coming season is undoubtedly the Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof. The German winter sports aces can look forward to another big home game between February 8th and 19th.
