Aggressive wild monkeys terrorize Japanese city: dozens of adults and children injured | Abroad

These are Japanese macaques. These have been around for a long time in many parts of the country. But this massive amount of attacks is highly unusual, a city official told The Guardian.

The people who have been attacked have different types of injuries. Dozens have been bitten in their arm, leg, neck or abdomen. They also suffered scratches after an attack. The monkeys would have climbed in through windows or doors of houses.

The police tried to catch the monkeys by setting traps and doing extra patrols, but these actions did not help. Officers are therefore now armed with stun guns.
