Frontman Eddie Vedder thanked the Dutch doctor who treated him on his throat during the Pearl Jam concert in Amsterdam on Monday evening. Thanks to “the best doctor in your country”, the singer got his voice back, he told the audience in the Ziggo Dome.
By: our news editors“We’ve made a new friend in the past few days,” said Vedder. “If we had met him earlier, maybe we could have continued.” The ENT doctor in question, Marco Franken, was shown and received tickets for the show as a thank you.
Pearl Jam had to cancel three shows last week, including Sunday’s concert in Amsterdam. To the relief of the band, the second performance on Monday could go ahead. “It’s really nice to sing these words again and have a voice again,” Vedder said after he heard the first song, Nothing As It Seems, had performed.
Pearl Jam called the cancellation of the Sunday concert in Amsterdam “the worst possible scenario”. “We sincerely apologize to everyone who has worked so hard on the show and all the fans who were looking forward to it,” the rock band said in a statement.
