EU energy ministers are expected to reach a compromise on gas savings on Tuesday. This should prevent households and essential facilities such as hospitals literally being left out in the cold in the coming winter if Russia cuts off the gas supply further or completely. According to the emergency plan, all countries will voluntarily consume 15 percent less gas in the coming months.
