DFB women give the green light ahead of the semifinals against France

Two days before the European Championship semi-final against France, the full German team trained.

“Everyone is fit. We are lucky that all of our 23 players are there,” said Britta Carlson, the assistant to national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg. The German soccer players will play in Milton Keynes on Wednesday (9:00 p.m. CEST/ARD and DAZN) for a place in the final next Sunday at Wembley Stadium in London.

Almuth Schult is also “almost healthy” again, said the 44-year-old Carlson. The substitute goalkeeper was absent in the 2-0 quarter-final against Austria because of a flu infection.

Goal scorer Lea Schüller was there again after her corona quarantine, but was not used.

Team evening improves mood

Full-back Giulia Gwinn reported on a joint team evening in London. “We drove to Tower Bridge with all the players and staff and got very, very tasty food in a restaurant and just enjoyed the evening away from the hotel,” said the 23-year-old from FC Bayern. “It was good for everyone, the mood was great.”

During training, however, the mood was a bit divided, said Gwinn with a smile: “We had a training session this morning where we played young against old – and in which young did not do so well.”
