The holiday season and the 9-euro ticket led to partially overcrowded regional trains in Berlin and Brandenburg on Saturday. The railway subsidiary DB Regio Berlin-Brandenburg reported an exceptionally high number of passengers for trains from several regional express lines via Twitter.

Connections to Stralsund (RE3) and Rostock (RE5) were affected. It is no longer possible to board other passengers and take a bicycle with you.

A railway spokesman said there were individual, very heavily occupied trains, so that travelers had to stay behind. This mainly applies to connections in tourist regions. The railway uses additional trains to the Baltic Sea during the holiday season.

There had already been overcrowded trains on previous weekends. Staff shortages and construction sites also affect train traffic. Demand for the 9-euro ticket remained high in July.
