Atakan Karazor released from custody in Ibiza

Stuttgart professional Atakan Karazor was in prison in Ibiza for six weeks because he was under investigation. Now he was free. His club has now commented on the process.

Atakan Karazor from Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart has been released from custody in Ibiza on bail. “This also corresponds to our knowledge,” confirmed VfB spokesman Tobias Herwerth on Thursday when asked by SID.

Karazor (25) was arrested on vacation in Ibiza almost six weeks ago for a possible crime. Since then he has been in custody. He is accused of raping an 18-year-old.

VfB have not had personal contact with their player since Karazor’s dismissal. As soon as this has taken place, they will “agree on how to proceed,” said Herwerth.

Born in Essen, Karazor has been under contract with VfB since July 2019. Last season he made 25 competitive appearances for the Swabians. In May, both sides extended the contract until 2026.
